Should New Jersey Trade Clemmensen?
Martin Brodeur has been cleared to play and will start their next game. Because of this, the Devils have sent Scott Clemmensen back to the AHL.
Since he was called up under emergency need, he can be sent back without waivers. And right now the Devils were not prepared to carry three goalies and were not about to put Kevin Weekes on waivers.
The question of trading Clemmensen has been raised. True, his value is probably as high as it will be, and sending him down doesn’t seem like a great reward for his stellar play but this is New Jersey. Team comes before self. And should Brodeur suffer a setback, Clemmensen would be called upon again.
If anything, he’s proven there could be life after Martin and that could be more valuable than another asset.
