Balsillie Hurts Bid By Amending An Out
Yesteday, Jim Balsillie amended his auction bid for the Phoenix Coyotes. The amendment allows him to vacate his bid if the case has not been resolved in his favour by September 14th.
Part of me hates to say it, but Balsillie has backed himself into a corner again and I don’t see Judge Baum ruling in his favour now. There are too many unknowns for this to be completely resolved by the 14th, including the relocation issues. The NHL has shown little interest in revising their schedule and alignment for such a move. And you can’t leave the Coyotes in the same division if they move to Hamilton. It adds undue financial burdens on the other teams in the same division with travel expenses.
With Balsillie hellbent on having this team only in Hamilton, he’s closed himself off to any concessions that might have landed him the team like possibly keeping the team in the Phoenix area for one or two more seasons while working out relocation issues. He’s not acted in good faith since this whole mess started, and is solely relying on the amount of his bid to sway the court since most of the creditors would be taken care of. I don’t think that’s going to cut it here.

Well written article, but cant see many comments. Any hoo great stuff. Ill pass this on to a friend or two, thanks for this.
